Hello Greene co.
I am a descendant of your colonist of Butler/Greene Iowa. Below is some of the information our families are coming up with. My great grandmother was Agatha Hagarty Bailey. Interested in finding family of course. Sincerely, Maureen Day-Moore

Born in Dublin Ireland, Died in Dublin Ireland age 40 (circa 1800's)
married to:
Mary O'Flaherty-Hagarty
Born =in 1800-Dublin, Ireland
died =in 1876 Iowa
"Patrick Joseph Hagarty and Mary O'Flaherty were married in Dublin, Ireland. Patrick died in Dublin at the age of about 40. Mary O'Flaherty-Hagarty came to New York with her seven children: Anne, Maria, Tom, Patrick. Lawrence, James and Eliza. They came to the US about the year of 1845 (date may not be authentic-maybe in the '50's) They came to Butler Co. (Iowa) in 1855.

Anne who married Wm. Cass
Maria who married William Nettleton
Thomas remained single and lived with Grandmother and Aunt Eliza
Patrick J. who married Mary De Saix
-Lawrence J.(Born June 22, 1832 Dublin Ireland=died in Green Iowa October 11, 1912)
GreatGreat Grandfather Lawrence came and joined his family from Green Iowa after living in NY and St. Louis in 1858, as quoted by my grandmother Elizabeth Bailey-Feeney, his grandaughter.
He married my great great Grandmother Anne Doyle-Hagarty in January 1868.
She died January 29, 1908.
Both are buried at the Coldwater Cemetery 4miles south of Greene (2 miles from his homestead).
They had nine Children;
1.) Agnes Hagarty-died at age 3 months,Louis, died at one year, Adrian, died at age 11 years, Elizabeth "Bessie" Hagarty-Nevins,Sr.Mary Virginia Hagarty,Patrick J. Hagarty, Thomas Hagarty,Lon Hagarty, Agatha Hagarty-Bailey,
James J. who married Mary Lavina Ryan
Eliza remined single
Thomas was a lock smith.
Pat & Lawrence were silversmiths
Jim was a marble cutter for awhile
Maria was a school teacher
Eliza studied music and was quit a musician
Born in Ireland
Last name spelled Hagerty Dublin, Ireland Patrick Joseph Hagarty
Anne Brooklyn, New York.
They had 4 children that died in infancy.
The only one that lived to grow up was
