I volunteer summers at the George B Hitchcock House near Lewis, Cass county, IA. It was a station on the Underground
Railroad. I am very much interested in the persons who helped with the Underground Railroad in Fremont County IA. My mother's family settled in Fremont County and that is the reason for my interest there.

Anyway,The Menare Foundation, Inc
Wilbur Siebert's Directory of Underground Railroad Operators
Iowa: Fremont County
lists Origin Cummings as one of the conductors.

I have located Origin Cummings on the 1854 IA ST census as #75 of Tabor Farms. I have also located him on the 1860 census for IA>Fremont Co>Ross twp>Tabor. He was Household # 98 and Dwelling #83 on the 1860 census.

I am trying to place the homes onto a platt map so I could see the route an escaping slave might have taken to Cass County and the home of Rev. Hitchcock.

Is Origin Cummings one of your family members and can you give me any help as to where his farm would have been located in Ross Twp?

Thanks for any help.
