One way to foil genealogists is for a parent with a common surname (in this case "Bennett") to name a child after a state (in this case "Iowa"). Looking for an "Iowa Bennett" who was born about 1854. He was in the 1880 census for Sidney, Fremont County, Iowa, a single man "Clerk in a Saloon," born in Iowa.
(Trying to fool a search engine to pick up this name is an exercise in futility.)
Does anyone know anything about this young man? I believe he may have been a son of Freedom Bennett of Keokuk County, Iowa.
