Ulysses Grant DRANE (or perhaps Drain) was b. in about 1864-1866 in PA, the son of Kinsey Gibbons Drane and Sarah L. ?? and grandson of Kinsey Drane (b. 1801 in MD and Elizabeth BURTNER (b. 1805 in Allegheny Co., PA). He shows up with the family in the 1870 and 1880 census in Allegheny Co., PA. After that the trail is more ambiguous. The 1900 census for Jefferson Twp., Fayette Co., IA had a 33 year old, single, Grant Drane. Cannot locate him in the 1910-1920 census. In 1930, there is a 64 year old U. G. Drane living in Dayton, Montgomery Co., OH. He is divorced and has no job. And finally, the Ohio Deaths, 1958-2002 list the death of a U. S. G. Drane, age 93, on 24 Jan 1960 in Dayton, Montgomery Co., OH. He was a widower and in a long-term care facility when he died.
Questions: Is this pertaining to the same Ulysses Grant Drane?
IF so, who, when and where was he married? Did he have any children?
Why can’t I find him in the 1910 and 1920 census?
The Drane family is related to my BURTNER and NEGLEY families.
