The Elgin Public Library has microfilms of the Elgin Newspaper and most likely would have someone willing to look up the obit that you need. I have checked the cemetery records done in the 1990's and the only Nichols burials are those of Bertie (age 9 yrs 11dy on 14 May 1887) and Birnell, no dates. Suspect these burials are children of Judson and Nancy. The Lot number is 119, Section 1. The gals at the library can give you the proper person to contact to check about possible unmarked graves at the cemetery. The library does have e-mail, just look up the City of Elgin website.

The parents of Judson Nichols, John R. and Samantha Nichols are buried in God's Acres Cemetery, Clermont, Iowa. Also buried at Clermont is John W. Nichols who probably was also known as Wesley, brother of Judson.

Hope this helps a bit.
