I have been researching my Carlson family for about 30 years now. I am trying to find out what happened to Alma Carlson the 4th child of Anna and Andrew Carlson sometimes spelled Corrolson. she was born in 1858 and in the 1860 Iowa Federal Census her name was Caroline 2 years of age but in the 1870 census her name was listed as Alma 12 years old. This family lived in Union Township. She had 2 other sisters and 3 brothers. I have been able to trace all of them but Caroline/Alma I have not been able to find. This family moved to Nebraska in about 1880 as they show up in the 1880 census in Fillmore County. However Alma does not appear in any Cenus reports or church records. I have contacted the Methodist Church Archieves in Iowa - Mt Pleasant and they have no records of any Methodist Church records for Union Township in Des Moines County. As my Great Great Grandmother Anna was supposedly a charter member of a Swedish Methodist Church in that area of Union Township. Now Union Township is mainly owned by the Army Amunition Plant. Does anyone one have any ideas if there are any church or cemetery records in the hands of families in or near Union Township? My guess is that Alma died in Union Township and is buried there. The only information that I have that she ever existed is the Federal Census of 1860 and 1870 and one picture and I cannot determine her age but I am guessing she was around 16. Any help that someone could give me would be appreciated. J. Olson Notify Administrator about this message?
