I am trying to break thru stone wall as to whereab outs of my gr grandparents Elizabeth Ladd and James Clark. They were m. in Feb.1826 in Morgan co Indiana, had two girls by 1830 and in 1831 they had my grandfather Thomas Christopher Clark. In 1832 they moved to Coles co Il and by sometime in 1833 or 1834, shortly after the death of Thomas ClArke, James father, James moved his little family to Burlington Iowa, presumably because Elizbeth's parents had moved there earlier. But I cannot seem to find them anywhere on Iowa censuses in 1840. It would help if I knew the names of their two girls, but unfortunately the 1830 census of Morgan county Indiana while it showed that they had two daughters under age five, it did not give their names, and my own dad evidently did not know that his grandfather had two sisters who were older. Thomas C ClArk my grandfatherr was born in 14 of August 1831 in Martinsville, Morgan co. Indiana. The girls were born bet.1826 and 1830, thats all the info I have on them. I was told that they had moved to Burlington Iowa abt 1834 but that is all I have to go on. A James Clark was the governor of Iowa at that time but he is not my James Clark, my gr grandparents were a bit older than the other James Clark and wife and kids. Those people I am told died of a typhoid epidemic. I am hoping someone could look up Elizabeth Ladd Clark and James Clark and family including son Thomas C Clark on the 1840 census perhaps, I need help. any clues much appreciated. thanks in advance.
