Both sides of my Maternal grandfather's family came from the Hopkinton, Delaware County area. Joseph Schmitt (b.1853) married Elizabeth Eichenberger (b.1860) and they and their family lived there until sometime after 1891 when my grandfather, Fred Howard Scmitt was born. By 1900, Joseph, Elizabeth, their sons John, George and Fred, and their daughters Mary and Carrie, all appear in the Aurora, Kane County, Illinois census. Both Joseph and Elizabeth are buried here in Aurora.
