Hi Brenda,

I looked at the 1880 census & noticed it shows that Mamie's father was born in Norway. The actual images shows Mamie as "A-Daugh", which means she was adopted. I assume someone other than the Abbott's gave the household info for 1880, as Andrew & Fannie's ages are off compared to other censuses.

The 1870 census for Delaware, Delaware County shows:

Andrew Abbott, 25, MI, Fannie Abbott, 21, NY, Lucindy Hempstead, 23, OH, Albert F. Hempstead, 5, IA, Arnetha Hempstead, 61, NY.

The 1885 census for Manchester, Delaware County shows:

Andrew J. Abbott 41 MI
Anna Abbott 36 NY
Mamie Abbott 10 DELAWARE CO.

The 1895 census for Manchester, Delaware County shows:

Andrew J. Abbott 50 MI
Fannie J. Abbott 45 NY

I assume that if Fannie had any children, that survived anyhow, he/she/they would have shown up in 1885 or 1895. Maybe even 1900 & living with Andrew.

Unfortunately, by 1900, Andrew is remarried. If Fannie were on census, it would show how many children she had & how many were living. The census shows A. J. Abbott, age 55, born Sep 1844, in MI, parents in NY. Wife Addie E., age 41, born Sep 1858 in IL, parents in PA. They have been married 4 years & she is the mother of zero children. They reside in Delaware, Delaware Co. In 1910, Addie, age 55, is widowed & still living in the same place.

I do not know what happened to Mamie.

Regards,
liz
