I'm looking for information about Radcliff Monroe Smith who lived in Dowville from 1869 to 1873. He was married to Mary McMeans of Andrew, Jackson County, Iowa. The information I have says that he was an active member of the Agricultural Society of Crawford County, a member of the Patrons of Husbandry and an organizer of the Dowville Lyceum. He was also a member of Co. M, 2nd Iowa Volunteer Cavalry in the Civil War.

Would there be information from any of those organizations in the 1870s or any newsapers that might mention his death on February 14, 1873?

I believe that his wife and three children moved back to Andrew, Iowa, after his death and that he was buried in Andrew.
