Peter Baumhardt born 28 Nov 1860, Prussia/Germany..died 28 Feb 1940, Archer City, Archer, Texas. Peter arrived in the US in 1881 with his destination listed as Clinton, Iowa, along with a large group of other single German men heading to Clinton. (I read that the Clinton lumber companies advertised in Germany for labor.)
By 1890, Peter is in Texas and marries, and remains there. In the 1900 census, he says he is a naturalized citizen. I have searched Texas locations, to no avail, searching for those naturaization records....so, now I'm looking at Clinton, Iowa. He could have been there in 1881 and maybe up to 1890, when he goes to Texas and marries. That would have been a long enough time period for him to have become naturalized. At least, that's my theory. Thanks for any help you can offer.
