Sorry to be so long in getting back to you.
I will give you the information that I have about the Muhs and the Masons; however, I don't have a lot.
Our connection to the Muhs and Masons is through their sister, Fredricka (Frieda) Johanna Kunigunde Stuth who married Frederic (Fritz) L. Luthans in Clinton, Clinton County, Iowa on April 17, 1889. Frieda was the oldest of the 4 children of Ludwig H. C. G. F. (Louis) Stuth and Johanna Cathrina Elizabeth Gabannusic Radden Stuth.
Louis Stuth was born in 1838 in Scherruein, Mecklenburg, Germany. He married Johanna on October 1, 1867 in Germany (but I don't know where). He died on May 18, 1905 in Camanche, Clinton County, Iowa and is buried there. I do not know anything about his parents.
Johanna was born January 17, 1840 in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Her father was L. F. John Radden. She died on May 14, 1912 in Camanche, Clinton County, Iowa. The burial was in Camanche on May 17,1912.
John Radden was born in 1814 in Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. His wife was named Margaret. They also had another daughter named Mary.
Frieda Stuth (my wife's great grandmother) was the oldest of the Stuth children. She and Bertha Anna Mathida Stuth were both born in Germany. Bertha was born in 1870 and died March 4, 1949 in DeWitt, Clinton County, Iowa and is buried in Long Grove Cemetery in Long Grove, Iowa. She was married to Ernest Henry (Ernie) Muhs.
The next two of the four children were born in the US. They are Herman A. Stuth, born January 19, 1875 in Camanche, Clinton County, Iowa. He married Helen Stone. I can find my notes, but I believe Herman and Helen had one daughter.
The last child was Emma Mae Stuth, born Mary 25, 1880 and died October 20, 1949. She was married to Benjamin F. Mason.
I did find the Ludwig Stuth family in the 1900 census living in Comanche, Clinton County, Iowa, Roll # 425, page 37A, Lines 1-4. I also found Elizabeth Stuth in the 1910 census on Roll 398, Page 49A, line 1.
I received some good information from Diann Muhs through this message board. She was researching her husband's family so was connected through Bertha Stuth. I have looked was her e-mail address, but I can not find it.
