I'm searching for info about:
"Melisa M. Wood born at Passumpsic, Vt., Dec. 12, 1824; married to Cyrus L. Grannis in 1848, resided in Boston three years and then started for the far west; came to Elkader, Clayton Co.,Iowa, in 1851 and resided there six years and while there their only child, Frankie, died aged four years. In 1857 they came to Pickwick (Wapello Co.,Iowa) and remained there until she died."
This is from an obituary in a family photo album. It says she died at the age of 79, therefore probably died about 1903. Because it is in our family photo album I'm assuming they must be some relation but don't know the connection. No one left living who would know.
We have known connection with:
C.W. Grannis Sr. b. unknown. Lived in Elkader, Clayton Co., Iowa & to Iroquois, S. Dakota in 1885. Married 24 Aug 1856 in Elkader to Betsey Boardman.
C.W. Grannis Jr. (aka: Cyrus Grannis) b. 1861, probably in Elkader, d. 28 Dec 1904 in Sioux Falls, S. Dakota.
My Theory is: Melissa's husband, Cyrus L. Grannis may be a brother to C.W. Grannis Sr.
Any info anyone might have on this would be greatly appreciated!
