1870 Clayton CO. census - Lucy, Wm, Mary Defno
Posted by: Maggie Musselman (ID *****0760) Date: February 26, 2010 at 07:44:52

In 1870, Lucy Defno and her two children, Wm. age 5 and Mary (Minnie) Defno were listed in the census for McGregor Ward 2, in Clayton Iowa. Does anyone know what the name McGregor signifies? Is it the town? If so, does anyone have information on the genealogy of 1870 McGregor? Lucy was married about 1865 probably in Wisconsin where William was born in 1865. Lucy was about 20 years old, and we cannot find anything on her husband. He was NOT listed in the 1870 census Nor is he mentioned in the Wisconsin census's. It is likely that he died between about 1862 and 1870. If anyone has information on this family or in particular on Mr. Defno, I'd appreciate hearing from you. thanks.
