Michael McAndrew IA farm 1870-1885 Mendon Tws

McGregor, Iowa Farmer Michael McAndrew and 1st wife Honora Fuery were born 1830-40s North Mayo County, Ireland, but likely married abt. 1858 in America, maybe PA or IA. Seems all of Mayo immigrants followed same path.

In 1860 Dubuque, Iowa Census, there is only 1 McAndrew listed: 'M McAndrew 25 Single, Day Laborer, b. Ireland'. This could be a Martin or Michael since few knew their own age. Area lead mines were early employment draw.

My known McAndrew couple are in 1870 Census at McGregor: Michael 40 yr. old Stone Mason, wife Hanora 33, with 1st 4 children all born Iowa (likely McGregor, Clayton Co.): Mary 11, Terance 9, Catharine 3, Richard 1. So they were together in Iowa by 1859,

It is apparent from the 1880 Census that my g-g-aunt Honora Fuery McAndrews 40 died that year; s is now on surname. This left widowed Farmer Michael 54, with children Terance 18, Kathe 13, Richard 11, Winnie 9, Michael 7, Magreth 1, with eldest married daughter Mary 22 & son-in-law Joseph Fisher 26.

By 1885 State Census, Farmer Michael 60, remarried to Mary ? 55, with just Michael 12 and Margarett 5 still home. Also is a Julie Glennon 44 Single, b. Ireland. Then easy connections all disappear, so they may have moved.

I would like to know more on this family and descendants; personal knowledge, Iowa Obituaries or RC parish records. There are too many Michael McAndrews from Co. Mayo through PA to Iowa to make easy identifications, so unable to get beyond Clayton Co. Census mentioned here. Happy to exchange for Ireland Fuery information for next direction.

Thanks for any clues specific to the whereabouts of this particular Michael McAndrew(s) family,
M. M. M.
