Well, I've finally gotten a bit more info, although not alot. I see there were LOTS of Homans in the county, but as of yet, I can't connect them. My Frederick Homan/Haman, etc was born 1858 in Germany. A Fred Wagner is listed in the census as being his half-brother. It would appear his mother, Caroling perhaps, married Emil Wagner in 1869. I found a Carl/Charles Homan in the census with a son Frederick, but the wife's name was Gerda . .? Anything sounding more familiar?? One of his son's had a Carl Homan and a Marie Homan as baptismal sponsors, but how/if related I do not know.
