The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa Thursday, June 25, 1908 Last Friday night the Rt. Rev. Jos. J. Davis, D.D. Bishop of Davenport Diocese, assisted by Very Rev. Dean Hoffman, of Ottumwa; Rev. Wm. Bulger, Ottumwa; Rev. Thos. Brownrigg, Melrose; Rev. Wm. Ginnan, Albia; Rev. P.J. Gaule, Georgetown; confirmed a class of 38 boys and girls. In his remarks to the class the bishop explained the sacraments and also gave a pleasing address to a well crowded church. He found the class well instructed through the winning efforts of their pastor, Rev. Edw. Gaule. The class consisted of children from Osceola, Leon, Woodburn and Chariton. Five of the class from leon found it impossible to be here. Otherwise it would have been the largest class ever confirmed at Chariton. Chariton. -- LEO LEONARD, GEO.
