I am looking for traces of one of my father's aunts whose name was Melda Fitzsimmons. "Melda" may have been short for "Imelda" and it may have been further shortened to "Nell". She was born in 1863 near Clermont, Fayette County, Iowa but her family moved to Lawler, Chickasaw County in 1871. This was an Irish Catholic family. Melda married a man named Taylor. I don't know anything at all more than that, although I suspect she died before 1910. Recently, however, I found a reference to two religious sisters making a visit to a Taylor home in Ionia, Chickasaw County in 1919, and am wondering if that could be Melda's home. Here is the reference: "Ionia: -Sister Domineca and Sister Raymond of Dubuque visited Friday and Saturday at the O.A. Taylor home." <http://www.newspaperabstracts.com/ia/chickasaw/1919/OCT.html>" The Sister "Domineca" may be Sister Mary Dominica Wieneke, the Major Superior of the Sisters of St. Francis from Dubuque. I am wondering if Sister Raymond may have been the religious name of a daughter of O.A. Taylor, and if he was Melda's widower. I'd be grateful for any information. I have already written to the archivist of the Sisters of St. Francis in Dubuque. Notify Administrator about this message?
