I am looking for information on Truman D. Merritt and Maria Shattuck 1800-1875. They were early settlers that had the distinction of being the first family to come to Chickasaw County with the intention of remaining..1848. Their daughter, Almira Merritt was the first white child to be born in Chichasaw County 1850. The names of their children are:
