The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa Thursday, September 27, 1906 MR. JOHN MILLER died at the home of his daughter, MRS. J.F. DAVIS, of Benton Township, on Monday, where he had been making his home for some time. He was a man well up in years and highly respected in the community in which he lived. Funeral services were conducted from the home by Rev. Yaggy of the United Brethren Church and interment made in Freedom Cemetery. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa Thursday, October 1, 1906 'OBITUARY' MR. JOHN MILLER was born in Indiana in the year 1829, and died Sept. 25, 1906, aged 77 years. He was reared on the farm in Indiana, moving to Mexico County, Missouri, in his early manhood. There he was united in marriage to SERELDA RUSSELL. To this union one daughter was born, who died five years ago. His wife died several years after their marriage. The deceased was again married to ELIZA COX of Wapello County, where they resided until her death in 1899. To this union five children were born, three boys and two girls, of whom two are living: EDGAR E. MILLER of Massena Ia, and MRS. JOE DAVIS, with whom he made his home the last two years of his life. MR. MILLER was a faithful Christian, having united with the Episcopal Church thirty-seven years ago. He was an honest and upright citizen of a kind disposition and good moral character.
