I checked my copy of the book and did not find your grandfather's name.

However, in the Cass County History published in 1980 there is a sketch and picture of his brother William Earl and his wife. It begins: "William Henry Porter born August 28, 1862 married LaBell Wilkins April 16, 1883..." It lists their five children with "Joseph Edwin" the fifth named.
