Marietta, mother of four and apparent widow, appeared in Linn Grove, Buena Vista County, IA ca. 1884 as the wife of John SWEET, son of Moses and Nancy. It is believed that Marietta's maiden name was SEARLES and her married name was LASHER. A daughter of hers was named Florence LASHER. Marietta and her her parents are reported to have been born in New York, with Michigan a possibility for Marietta.
