Seeking women with Union (Civil War) ancestry

I am seeking to locate women age 10 or older who have either (A) a direct, blood-related ancestor who fought for the Union in the Civil War or (B) a direct, blood-related ancestor whose BROTHER fought for the Union in the Civil War.

The purpose is to organize a local chapter (called a "circle") of the Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic (LGAR). This organization began in 1881 and is the oldest women's hereditary society in the U.S. Its purpose is to keep alive the memory of the Union soldier and sailor. The organization is not an auxiliary to any other organization; however, the Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War is a brother organization with whom we sometimes cooperate in mutual items of interest. It is Congressionally chartered.

It takes 10 women to form a circle. Circles are named for some person, item, or event related to the Union veterans of the Civil War.

The national convention of the LGAR is being held in Cedar Rapids, IA, in August, 2004.
