ALONZO M BRIGGS ( Newspaper Article, The Boone News-Republican, Boone, IA) A.M. BRIGGS WAS BORN IN THIS CITY Three Children and Other Relatives Survive Services Were Held on Thursday Afternoon The Service Was in Charge of the Rev. E.L. Frost and Was Followed By Interment in Linwood Park Cemetery The Funeral services for the late A.M. Briggs were held from his home No. 1515 Greene Street Thursday afternoon Feb 15th, at 2:30 o'clock. The Rev E.L. Frost, paster of the Central Church of Christ, was in charge. Miss Gay Hart, accompanied by Mrs. Reynolds, "I Need Thee Every Hour," and "Jesus, Blessed Jesus." The Text used was selected from the 23rd Psalm, "The Lord is My Shepherd: I Shall Not Want." "There are three thoughts in this sentence which are comforting, "said the pastor. The first is "The Lord is,'God is not a flase hope. He lived and reigns. And in Him we live and move and have our being. And this all wise and all powerful God is 'Our Shepherd' is the second consoling thought of this passage. And the third, 'I shall not want'. As God has made very provision for our physical needs and life, so will He provide for our spiritual needs." The pallbearers were Messrs: Allison Miller, Will Smith, Tom Mugan, Will Harvey, Rae Smith and George Brown. Interment was mde in Linwood Park Cemetery, east. His Life Sketch Alonzo M. Briggs was born in Boone, Ia, November 16, 1873, and died at his home in Boone February 13, 1923 at the age of 49 years, 2 months and 28 days. He was married to Viola Cripliver February 5, 1893. To this union was born three children, Iris Darce (Duree) of Des Moines, Harry O. and Glenn E. at home. He also leaves three grandchildren, Dorothy, James and Clyde Briggs; three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Mary Brady, Mrs. Ezra Bushore of Boone and Mrs. Geo. Kirk of Kansas City, Mo. and George Briggs of Boone. Two brothers preceded him in death, Daniel W. and William H. Briggs, both of Boone.
