Terri: Here is the answer I got from my friend in Denmark about the siblings of Thomas, one of whom has a name that might be of interest to you. If it makes a connection for you, my friend and I have a lot more information about the cousins Annemarie and Peter and Christian to your connection he mentions as living in Brayton and in Illinois. I would appreciate a response from you, even if your response is that this does not make a connection for you.

The complete answer I got from my Danish friend is as follows: QUOTE: Hej Fritz.

In re. of your post of Sep. 20, 2001.

Yes, Thomas had siblings, and quite a few, he had 6. One of them was a Anna Marie (Mary)

1. Christian Jorgen Christensen, born Apr. 18 1853 in Ketting parish. He became a foster-child at a near-by farmer. His parents obviously could not afford to feed him. That was not unusual at the time. Besides he was born just about 10 days after the wedding, and that wasn't very nice. If that circumstance had any effekt about giving away the child, I dont know.

2. Jorgen Christensen, born Feb. 13 1855 in Brandsboel, a village on northern part of Als.

3. Niels Christensen, born Apr. 11 1857 in Brandsboel.

4. Still-born boy, Jan. 9 1860.

5. Peter Christensen, born Jan. 9 1863 in Brandsboel.

6. Anna Marie Christensen, born Oct. 11 1865 in Brandsboel. Baptized Nov. 25 in Havnbjerg church.

7. Thomas Christensen, born Dec. 11 1868 in Brandsboel.

Their parents were: Cecilie Christensen/nee Jessen, and Niels Christensen. They were born respectively Nov. 16 1829 and Jan. 21 1822. in respectively Ketting and Brandsboel. Shortly after they were married in Ketting church, they moved to a small farm in Brandsboel, were they lived until their emigration in the 1880'es.

Cecilie's parents were Christen Jessen Ravnborg and Anna Marie Andresen.

Christen Jessen Ravnborg and Anna Marie had 5 children:
1. Jes Christensen, ("Old Jes"), born 1820
2. Peter Christensen Ravnborg, born 1822
3. Heinrich Jessen, (my g.g.grandfather), born 1825
4. Cecilie Jessen, born 1829
5. Andreas Jessen, born 1836
Note that the children had different family names, due to different naming rules. Until about 1820 the habit was that children were given their fathers first name + sen (Christensen). Later children were baptized with their fathers family name (Jessen). That's how it was, I can't help it :-).

Note that Cecilie's and Niels's children are cousins to Annemarie in Brayton, and to Peter and Christian in Illinois.

Of course I don't know if Anna Marie Christensen is the one Terri is looking for, but in my opinion it looks like there is a possibility, and I hope that this is useful information for Terri. I do have a bit more info like sponsors and best men, but I doubt if it is of any interest.

If Terri should happen to know anything about Thomas and others in this family, I would be happy to know about it. I think you agree :-).

Kind regards
Bent
