Additional information taken from Biographies of Allamakee Co:
"A. Schulte, farmer, PO Dorchester, owns 355 acres of land valued at $18 per acre. He was born in Germany Nov 28th 1841 and came to the US in 1867 to Dorchester via NY and Cincinnati. He rented the brewery at Dorchester for 5 yrs then moved to the farm. He married Caroline Koenig of Illinois in October 1869. They have 6 children: Sophia, Theodore, Clements, Eda, Bernard and Allawena. One child, Elizabeth, died. Mr Schulte is of the Catholic faith".
