I have a booklet, "Driving Tours in Maryland, 1975", which states the following:

"Chestertown - Kent's County seat, founded in 1698....The Hynson-Ringgold House or 'The Abbey,' Cannon and Front Streets was built in the telescope manner beginning with the rear sections built by Nathaniel Hynson in 1735. The architectural splendor of the house is enhanced by the beauty of the walled garden surrounding it." (not open)

I am not researching these people, and have no further information.
