Thought your entry was interesting...

"Hynes" is related to my New England paternal grandmother's genealogy:

Paternal grandmother: Clara Madeline (Hynes) McCormack's parents were:

Francis Leo Hynes and Luella Antoinette Browne

A Stephen-Griffin Hynes served with the 2nd Mass Cav. He enlisted in his teens under his name but his parents brought him home. He ran away, re-enlisted under his mother's maiden name (or some such pseudonymn) and remained in the Civil War:

Griffin, Stephen (alias Stephen Hines)
Company B 2nd MA Cavalry
Widow: Theresa Hines
Minor: Flynn, Margaret, Gdn.
First Pension filed: 1866 April 8 Invalid App # 105.990 Certificate # 82.899
Next Filed: 1893 Aug 7 Widow App # 581 020 Certificate # 444 280 MASS.
Next Filed: 1898 Nov 12 Minor : App # 383 540

+++++++++++

I married into the Cincinnati, OH "Gunn" family. I see Pres. of the unit you mentioned, was "E.H. Gunn." The early "Gunns" came through New England to move west. Another group of "Gunns" moved westward through the southern states.

If anyone can add to my family tree, please email me at gunn_pa1950@yahoo.com or pgunn@cinci.rr.com
