"Hynes" is related to my New England paternal grandmother's genealogy: Paternal grandmother: Clara Madeline (Hynes) McCormack's parents were: Francis Leo Hynes and Luella Antoinette Browne A Stephen-Griffin Hynes served with the 2nd Mass Cav. He enlisted in his teens under his name but his parents brought him home. He ran away, re-enlisted under his mother's maiden name (or some such pseudonymn) and remained in the Civil War: Griffin, Stephen (alias Stephen Hines) Company B 2nd MA Cavalry Widow: Theresa Hines Minor: Flynn, Margaret, Gdn. First Pension filed: 1866 April 8 Invalid App # 105.990 Certificate # 82.899 Next Filed: 1893 Aug 7 Widow App # 581 020 Certificate # 444 280 MASS. Next Filed: 1898 Nov 12 Minor : App # 383 540 +++++++++++ I married into the Cincinnati, OH "Gunn" family. I see Pres. of the unit you mentioned, was "E.H. Gunn." The early "Gunns" came through New England to move west. Another group of "Gunns" moved westward through the southern states.
