I am a novice in the Genealogy thing, but have taken a keen interest in researching my family. I am looking for some information pertaining to my grandfather/grandmother, who resided in Toms River and Keansburg, New Jersey. It is my hopes that I would be able to validate the biographical information for the purpose of identifying great grandparents and additional family. So far, I found within the 1910 Census a Charles A. Hyland (Born abt 1876) was married to an Elizabeth Hyland (Born abt 1881). They had a daughter by the name of Emma (or Emily) Hyland (Born abt 1902). They Resided in Manhattan, NY.
During a review of the 1920 Census, I found Charles, Elizabeth, Emily, and a CHARLES HYLAND (born: Abt 1912). I was hoping to validate these were the right family connection to my grandfather. If it turns out correct, then it would be most exciting for me knowing there is a significant amount of family out there from Emily.
As such, if anyone has any additional information or leads I could check pertaining to my grandparents, I would be most appreciative. My grandparentsí information is as follows:
My grandfather: Charles Hyland: Born 29 May 1912, New York. Died: 12 Apr 1989 in Toms River, New Jersey. Charles Hyland worked for a long time with U.S. Railroad Board (or U.S. Steel) and drew a retirement pension.
My Grandmother: Anne Violet Thorpe, Born: 23 Jul 1918, Melbourne, Australia. Died 17 Jan 2005 in Keansburg, New Jersey. Charles and Anne divorced something after the birth of their children: Dennis, Paul, and Patricia Hyland (perhaps more?).
Los Angeles, CA
