I have researched my Hyland ancestors from Aghaboe Co.Laois, for the past fifteen years and have achieved some success.During a recent visit to the county, I realised that I had reached the proverbial brick wall.I believe that my gggrandfather was James Hyland, whose wife was Mary Margaret Quaney. From National Library archives I found four of their children;Joseph B.1818,Hannah no date,Martin B.1828 and Judith B.1831, all in Kyletilloge/Kiltilloge,Aghaboe.
Griffiths Valuation 1849 in Laois shows James and Martin in Kilbeg,Aghaboe.I believe that James and Mary had previously had five more children; Patrick B.1814 (my ggrandfater)James b.1816,John B.1820,Mary B. 1821 and Michael B.1823.
I have traced the progression of the families of Patrick,James,John and Michael.Hoping that someone out there might be able to recognise some of the others and help to tie in the missing links.I have looked at all the available data without success.Heres hoping.Bill
