When I saw your message I got quite excited and had to telephone my mother. I hope we can find a connection. My great grandmother was Lucy Agnes Hyland born abt 1878 in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland. Her parents were William and Lucy (Walker) Hyland. Lucy (Walker) Hyland's father was a doctor--I believe in Mullingar (he would be my great great great grandfather). My great grandmother Lucy Anges Hyland was one of 4 children that I know of (there may have been more). Her siblings include a sister Mary whose married name was Kelly; a brother John who was knighted by the Knights of Malta and lived in England, he had a son named Percy; another brother whose name I don't know--this brother had at least 2 daughters--one who went to live in England and whose daughter was with a London ballet company (this would be the granddaughter of the unknown brother). The unknown brother's other daughter was called Agnes and her married name was Byrne. Agnes had at least 3 children: Monica (who went to Canada), Leila or Lila and a son Neal or Niles. My great grandmother Lucy Agnes Hyland married John Fetherston in 1896--they had 9 children, including my grandfather Leo. Does any of this coincide with what you know of your grandfather Joseph's family? Please let me know. My e-mail is
