This might connect with you or not -
There are Hylands buried in Pendleton Co, Ky.
On the 1880 census the name is spelled Highland, but I don't know if the census taker just thought it was spelled that way or what. The names on the stones are Bernard, Bridget, James,Wm. Mary, Henrietta.

The parents were born in Ireland and the children were born in Ohio before settling in Ky. Maybe these are "shirt-tail" and may come in handy when you hit that wall. (I'm not a relation - I knew Edwin "Cappy" Hyland before he died.)
