Hyer Family New York City
We would like some assistance in proving the relationships of the Hyer family of NY City.
We have in our possessions original letters beginning in 1925 & continuing in the 1930s that Richard (Dick) Hyer wrote to Clara Cowie Fitzpatrick the daughter of Margaret Hyer (1845-1920), the daughter of George W. Hyer (1816-1866) & Catherine Gaffit/Gavit (1820-1881), the son of William (abt 1780–abt 1855) & Jane (abt 1785- abt 1867) Hyer.
Richard Hyer refers to NY records that give exact dates for William & Jane &, to other records with information that are difficult for us to locate since we reside in Tennessee.
The granddaughter of Clara C. Fitzpatrick is trying to find the proof that William is the son of Walter Hyer, loyalist, traven owner. Then would like to acquire proofs linking this generation back through the 1700s to Walter Hyer the immigrant.
Among the letters is a transcribed copy of George W. Hyers family bible & some family inf. from Walter E. Hyer of California who claimed to have the gold watch of Walter the travenkeeper.
These letters stated:
“Walter Hyer was the son of Baltus Hyer, & was bapt. Jan. 11-1741 in N. Y. City.He married, Jun. 18-1766, Hannah Lynch, & died Jul. 28-1822 in N. Y. City.
Baltus Hyer was the son of Garret Hyer, & was bapt Feb. 24-1706 in N. Y. City.He married, May 19-1734, Sarah Burger, & died….
Garret Hyer was the son of Walter Hyer, & was bapt. Nov. 3-1675 in N. Y. City.He married, Dec. 14-1698, Saertje Bosch, * died …
Walter Hyer was the son of….. & married, Nov. 4-1668 in N. Y. City, Tryntje Bickers.”
There is a lot of inf. available about the Hyer family but what we are looking for are the documents that provide the inf..
We will exchange inf. & pay for any copying fees or postage if it is needed for material that can not be provided through the internet.
