If you find a Hyde there I'd be interested in hearing about it.
---------
Hyde Park (D) was named for Edward Hyde, Lord Cornbury, eccentric provincial
governor of New York, who in 1705 presented a parcel of land along the river to his
secretary, Peter Fauconnier. Hyde's name was given to an estate on that property and
later to the town.

---------
A new survey of the land was done and an additional 6,000 acres was mapped. In 1704,
a group of 4 men petitioned Sir Edward Hyde, Lord Cornbury and Governor of New
York for the extra land. This group, including Peter Fauconnier, was granted the patent in
1705.
