I located William Hyde's entire pension application on footnote.com...It's wonderful, providing detailed information such as being born in Lancaster Co PA, then moving to Burke Co NC and serving in Capt Ramsey's Company in the Revolutionary War for 10 months. He declared himself and invalid in 1836 when he filed. He stated that in 1795 he left Burke and went to Buncombe Co, then Haywood Co.The area he lived in turned into Macon Co when that county was formed, giving descendants a better idea of where he lived.
I have obtained copies of all the wills/estates files from the NC State Archives.
There were several Hyde's living in Western NC in the late 1700's.How do you know that this William Hyde is related to the Rev. John Aaron Hyde, Sr. that is buried at Luada Cemetery south of Bryson City?
