Athens - Loudon County, Tennessee Hydes
I am descended from George Washington who lived around the Athens, TN area. I alternately heard 'Athens' and 'Loudon County' while growing up.
I don't remember my grandmother's name, but George had four children - Leonard, Mildred, Glenn and Annalou. They were all born around the first decade of the 20th century. They all ended up around the High Point, NC area, where I was born in 1952. Glenn eventually moved to Pontiac, MI. I believe my grandfather died around 1955.
My father passed away in 1978 at the age of 68. Annalou married Bob Jacobs, and they had 2 children - Coby and Darrell. Annalou passed in the late 1980s. Mildred never married, and passed away in High Point in the 1990s.
I read in another post here of the rich Cherokee tradition this branch of the Hydes have. My father sure showed it, with the red skin and nose. He spoke of it often.
Looking, of course, for info and possible distant relatives. Thanks.
