Linda,
I'm a lot further along now, and surprise! it seems my Hydes are also descended from Humphrey, rather than William or John!
I'm pretty sure now, that the direct line descends as follows: Humphrey - John - John - Daniel - Eliakim - Samuel deForest - Ira David - John Harvey - Aretas - Bruce Marsh - John Bruce - Alice.
I wonder where your family intersects with this line?
I would love to know more names and dates, if you have them. Especially for Samuel deForest Hyde's children (I only have Ira and Warren), and Eliakim's children (I only have Samuel deForest and Abigail).
Ira had a previous marriage in 1808, but I don't know any more than that. His second wife Nancy Laughlin's family moved from Cumberland, PA to Trumbull, OH, probably around 1800. She married Ira on 9 July 1821 (presumably in Trumbull, because she was a widow, having previously married John Mathews there in 1806, and their second son John Harvey was born there 16 Oct 1824). Ira was born in Fairfield, CT - 9 Aug 1781.
Hope you can add something, and maybe this has helped you a bit?
