Sophia Hyde (later Mrs. Samuel Prescott Ellis), Panton, Vermont, portrait 1840
The Autumn/Winter 2007 issue of ANTIQUES AND FINE ART magazine on p. 228 pictures a portrait of Sophia Hyde of Panton, Vermont, in 1840. She soon married Samuel Prescott Ellis (whose portrait accompanies hers). Sophia was the daughter of Calvin Hyde, an early Vermont settler.
This fine portrait should be made known to the Hyde and Ellis families. I am scanning it in case any of the descendants might like a copy, either by email or by postal mail. Someone in the families ought to have it--it is too good to be missed by the families. It may not have extensive genealogy value, but it certainly does have a whole lot of family and artistic value.

If it were a portrait of a Pease family member, I'd certainly hope someone would do the same for me.
