Hi Steve,
We certainly have lots to talk about!
The connections between the Hydes, Lees and Moss's go back to the 1600's.I know much less about Wilde/Wylde families. There is an Elsie Wilde in one line of my Hyde connections, and my husband's gr. great grandmother Betty married Joseph Wilde. They lived in Bennett St. Hyde. Joseph died in the big mine disaster.
I was up in Gee Cross just last week staying at Needham's Farm on top of the Low. My husband's father's family lived in 1, Radcliffe Fold between 1905-1915 before it was turned into the Golf course Club house.
Like you, perhaps, my main interest is always the Denton and Haughton families. My gr.x4 grandfather was John Hyde, Clerk of Denton St. Lawrence, 1765-1788 when he died.
My own Hyde family line ran the Rid Plough Inn in 1832, had Mike's the corner hairdresser on Bents Lane and his family lived in Mill Lane. His brother Joseph ran Hyde's farm on Mill Lane, whilst his parents had a small holding and hat shop further down the lane on the corner of the track leading down through the wood to Arden Bridge. That has now all gone, of course.
More aunts, cousins and brothers were in Haughton Green, Gibraltar Lane, Gee Cross, Stockport Rd. and Hyde.
I shall send you an email.
Cheers, Sue.
