David Hide
A David Hide appeared in Brunswick, Vermont around 1790 and started selling land grants he had obtained earlier from a Gov. Wentworth charter of 1762 for Dryden (now Colebrook, New Hampshire) to any one who would buy them. After making a number of profitable sales he departed. Where he came from or where he went is not known. Does anyone in the Hide/Hyde various families know anything about an ancestor who apparently made a good profit off the early settlers of northern New Hampshire?
