Thanks for the tip John.Though I do not think it will be applicable. My Sarah Hyde says she was born in Ark about 1855 then moved to Texas. And for that matter a new development has occurred in my Hyde research saga.About 3 weeks ago one of my Hyde cousins found me on this forum.I have pictures of his grandmother among my photos yet until he contacted me I had no idea he existed. He is a descendent of the brother of my Sarah Hyde, named John Hyde just like you.And there was another sibling, a sister named Jenny Hyde who married a Blansfield.THey lived for a while in Houston Texas where I was born but they all died before I was born so I never met them. This Jenny Hyde Blansfield's death cert. says her father was a John H. Hyde or J. H. Hyde, and she was born in Lousiana. The brother JOhn H. Hyde was supplsed to have been born in TExas.
Further more there is a family rumor both I and my newfound cousin have heard regarding an ancestor who was hanged way back in the 1800's in what is now Harris Co. TX and his name was John K. Nicholas Hyde.We are now awaiting for archivists at the Harris county jail to release his crimial records to my cousin who still lives in the Houston area.We do not know what relationship we are to this John K. Nicholas Hyde aka horse thief, but it sound exciting and colorful on the order of when I learned I was a descendant of the Putnam family of MA who were the main instigators of the Salem Witchcraft Trials.Witch hunters and horsethieves what next?!!!
I have been meaning to post a query out here to see if anyone knows any stories of a J. K. Nicholas Hyde who was hanged as a horse thief in Harris county Texas.Well let me know if you know anything on any of these new developments and what line of Hydes are you from?
