Hansford/Hyde Connection

My name is Mary Lou Blount and I am the great, great Granddaughter of Anthony Gray Hyde and Mary Margaret Pleasant. Their son, Anthony "Tony" Walter Hyde was my G Grandfather, his wife was Loucanda Thomason.
A.G. Hyde was one of seven brothers most all of whom served in the Confederate forces from Texas. A. G. moved from Nacogodoches to San Angelina where he married Mary Margaret Pleasant. They then settled on a league and labour of land in VanZandt County Texas given to A. G. by a maternal aunt Elizabeth Gray-Dunnam. The deed carried the message, "for the love and affection I hold for my nephew, A.G. Hyde".
Elizabeth received the land on behalf of her husband Lt. Dunham who died in the Civil War. The Grays but not the Hydes were from Virginia Elizabeth's father was L.S. Gray. I am guessing but I believe that John Hansford's wife must have been a Gray. John H. and Brother George and families came to Texas from Tennessee with the Robertson Company. Look at the Texas land records and you will see their names and land holdings all over Nacogodoches and also in Cherokee County.
I also found the name John H. Hyde (a single male) entering Florida from Barbados on his way to Tennessee. The Granger County Tennessee history mentions that John H. If this is our John H. Hyde, he brought the Hansford name from where ever he came from before Barbados. I have not looked up the ship's passenger lists. John H.Hyde was a tavern owner in Granger County, TN. In those days, taverns were bed and breakfast places rather than a "beer joint".
I remember my grandmother, Dover Hyde talking about Aunt Sally. So, Good luck in your research cousin! The Hydes who descend from A.G. and Mary Pleasant have never left the VanZandt County area. They still own much of the old survey that is to this day still called "Widdow's Prairie".
