Anthony G. Hyde and John H. Hyde of Nacogdoches, Texas
Hi all,
I am fairly certain that my great-grandmother Sarah (Sally) Hyde who was first married to a ?Franklin and then my great-grandfather Robert B. Lewter of Tyler, Texas was the daughter of Anthony G. Hyde who moved from Tenn to Nacogdoches, Tex in the 1840's. There is simply no other Sarah Hyde in Texas the Right age at that time or for that matter many other Hydes of any age or first name. The reason I have had any doubts at all is we have always thought her middle initial was an "E"but with handwriting being what it was long ago I suppose it could be a G or a clerical error, not like I have not run into lots of those in genealogy. Also on some paperwork she filled out for a Civil War Penson or rather that was filled out for her it states she was born in Ark.Perhaps she was not aware or maybe when she was born it was the part of Texas that later became Texarkana????She married D. Robert B. Lewter in Tyler, Texas on 24 DEC 1876 She died in Tyler in Feb of 1914.Robert died in the fall of 1913.She only survived him by a few months. They had 5 known children, Anne, Nancy, Dewy Belle, Joseph and John Henry, my grandfather.Nancy moved to Houston, Tx and married a Howard, they had at least one child a Robert B. Howard.Dewy married George Heitman and also lived in Houston. Anne I know nothing of save she did live in Galveston for a time.Joseph never married and traveled a lot.John Henry married Ivy May Wright in Tyler, Texas in 1914.
Except for Sarah (sally) Hyde appearing on the 1860 and I think 1870 Census with Anthony G. Hyde and Mary Margaret Pleasant Hyde and so on and their being linked to John Hansford Hyde, I do not have absolute proof that This Sarah Hyde and my great grandmother are the same person.I am going to try the usual way of getting such info, but I am hoping someone here knows the answer.
