Steubenville, OH and Vermont Hydes +Hyde Recipe
Hello,
I am really at my wit's end.Does anyone have anything on Hydes that moved from Vermont to Steubenville, OH?I am Trying to find a father for Alicia J. Hyde born October 17, 1844 in Steubenville. She married a John H. Galvin April 9, 1866 in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. They lived in Cleveland for the rest of their lives, having three children:Harry W, Archie, and Mary.I would really like to find parents for her!All census information indicates that her parents were born in Vermont, but family lore also speaks of ties to England.
As a special bonus, here is her recipe--An old HYDE recipe--for
Yorkshire Pudding:
Make a batter with one pint of milk, three eggs (well beaten) 1 teaspoon of salt and two teaspoons of baking powder sifted through 2 cups of flour. Mix all together very smoothly. Take two biscuit tins and put drippings or fat of any kind in tins. Heat them hot. Pour half the pudding into each tin. Bake in oven from 15-20 minutes. Have oven hot when you put in the tine. Serve hot. Serve meat gravy of any kind over pudding when done.
More Hyde Recipes to follow as incentives!
thanks,
Catherine Galvin
