I did not know about Edward or Jane, until your message, but I believe they must have been the parents of a Captain Joseph Hyde, born 23 rd June 1831 Woolwich England - "an artilleryman and the son of an artilleryman, served in the Crimean War" eventually retiring to first Nelson and then Wellington, New Zealand, died 1926.
Captain Joseph H. was famous at the Battle of Inkerman, during the Crimean War, as the Crimean Master Gunner who "Served The Two Historic Guns" against the Russians despite being outnumbered six to one. I have yet to read Major May's "Achievements of Field Artillery", but I suspect there may be further biographical notes inside.
I myself have aphoto of Captain Joseph in military uniform, together with photocopied news articles covering his services history and his funeral. No mention of named siblings is made in these articles.
While I can assist with relatives since, in New Zealand and perhaps two I am aware of in Canada , one being my Gt Uncle Joe and his son Eddie Hyde of Vancouver B.C - I cannot help further. Am very happy to exchange any other info about this historic link. Edward Hyde would appear to be my G.G.Gt. Grandfather !! on my father's, mother's side. Best regards.
