My understanding is that Damarius Angeline Thomas had a daughter who had a daughter who had a daughter who had a daughter who had a son who was your father. If this be the case, is your father still alive? You could use his mitochondrial dna (that very small percentage of free floating dna that exists outside of the nucleus of a cell). Your own mitochondrial dna and that of your siblings comes from your mother. That of any children you might have would come from your wife. If your father has passed away, does he have any sister or brother still living who would cooperate or any sister's children who would cooperate with you? If not, you would have to approach the female line descendants of your father's mother's sisters. Although there are some Indians who have the same female line ancestry as a fairly small percentage of Europeans, one test would be enough to at least determine whether there is a possibility of American Indian ancestry or not, and whether the possibility is moderate or strong. If you believe the connection is through a certain family, to prove this you would also have to locate a female-line descendant of a woman you think might have a female line connection with your ancestress and get such a person to cooperate with you. If the results match, depending on the quality of the supporting historical data, you can either consider the relationship to be very likely or, in certain cases, proven. Please feel free to contact me, either here or at my e-mail address ([email protected]), if you need further information. If you do decide to pursue this further, I will be overjoyed to format and upload to website at "http://family.nf" any results you might one day send me. Hikaru
