the will of Merritt Hyde is recorded in Huron County Will Book Volume #2, pa 552. It was written 30 July 1873 and admitted to Probate and record 7 May 1874. He left his farm and goods to his wife Sally. Then upon her death, 47 acres to William D, second son of Merritt M Hyde, and the remainder, 103 acres, to Merritt H, eldest living son of Merritt M. Hyde, along with two village lots in Wakeman. To son Merritt M. Hyde, the 60 acres in lot 50, Wakeman township. To granddaughter Sarah F. Hyde, daughter of MM Hyde, $200.00 in cash. Balance of his estate to his three children:
Sally Humphrey (note Maria Hyde married William Humphrey, 28 June 1855 at Wakeman)
Susan M. Pierce (Lemuel Pierce Married Maryette Hyde 27 November 1867 as second wife)
Merritt M Hyde.

Merritt Hyde, son of Daniel & Eunice, born 2 Jan 1794 in Connecticut, died 1 May 1874 in Wakeman. Came to Wakeman in 1823 with Wife's brother in law William Beers, when there were only 13 people in the township. sold or traded Connecticut farm for Wakeman land, getting a deed for 133 acres. Brought his family out after the birth of Sally Maria. In 1834 built a frame house (which still stands-HRT) on his farm west of Wakeman, where the post office was kept for a time. He was the Indian agent for the US government at northern Michigan. Sally Boyd his wife died 2 Feb 1889
