My father-in-law was Frank Xavier Hyde, Sr., born Nov. 30, 1925 in Chicago, IL, died Mar 20, 2000 in Meridian, MS.He was one of eleven children of Rudy Hyde, born Rudolph Martin Heidenblut(h).These children were the result of his second marriage - to Sarah Emma Luker of Collinswood, TN.I do not know who his first wife was, and only recently learned that he had been married before his marriage to Emma Luker.Rudolph changed his name during or after WWI because he wasn't able to get work with a German sounding name, even though he had been born in the United States.
Frank (Franz?) Xavier Heidenblut(h) immigrated from Germany with his family when he was 13 years old. He married another German immigrant, Elizabeth [unk] and they owned a dairy farm in Wisconsin. Frank Heidenblut was also a bricklayer, as were several of his sons. After WWI, with German-sounding names found it hard to get jobs, so some of the boys changed their name to HYDE.This is what my father-in-law told me, but I think he must have been confused about his grandmother's name because it just doesn't fit with the other information that has been given to me by other members of what seems to be the same family.
Here is the family as he gave it:
Frank (Franz) Xavier HEIDENBLUT b: in Germany 1850-1865
+Elizabeth [unk] b: in Germany
Children:
Alice HEIDENBLUT d: in California
Ann HEIDENBLUTb: March 2, 1899 in Wisconsin, d: March 21, 1985 in Los Angeles, CA m. _?_ Dexter
Buddy (Andrew) HEIDENBLUT b: Bet. 1881 - 1900 d: Bet. 1898 - 1916
Dorothy HEIDENBLUT m. Preston SMITH
Robert HYDE d: Bet. 1955 - 1975 in Lima, Ohio
Terris HEIDENBLUT d: in New Jersey m. Burt READING
Virginia HEIDENBLUT m. _?_ Bellini
Frank Xavier HYDE d: in Chicago, Ill(I also have his name listed as Frank George Heidenblut)
William HYDE d: in Maryland
Rudolph Martin HYDE b: 12/4/1893 in WI d: 7/18/1967 in Lawrenceburg, TN
+ first wife unknown
+Sara Emma LUKER b: 8/7/1900 in TN d: 12/18/1950 Lawrenceburg, TN
My father-in-law said that some of his father's uncles went to OH and at least one aunt went to California and I think the rest stayed around Chicago.
There is also information on what appears to be this same Heidenbluth family online at the Morman's family history site, www.familysearch.com.That site is where I found the children and marriage of Frank George Heidenbluth and Elizabeth Kalsch, which seem to match the information above that my father-in-law gave me.I think my father-in-law just got the names confused between his uncle Frank's wife and his grandmother.
