“Hyde” in Ireland
Not all Hydes in Ireland are descended from the Norman Invaders or English Planters.
Some of us descend from indigenous Irish with the family surname “O’Seitheacháin” (of various spelling) such as my great grandfather and his father who left written such signatures but were known in English as “Hyde”.
O’Seitheacháin survived as Family name until 1950s – yes, 1950s – in Irish-speaking localities, for family known as Hyde.
