Wondering if the Edwin you speak of is the related to Edwin N. Hyde(from Massachusetts) married to Julia
Brown (Heir to the famous Anneke Jans estate). They had a son James Cadle Hyde, born in New York
City April 6, 1840(any other siblings?). James married Carrie E. Dana who died on Apr.20 1872. James
married again to Fannie E. Morton from Paris, Ohio on July 1 1875. They had 4 boys(Rollin,Morton,Lester
and Cecil). I can give further information on Rollin if needed. Also, James Cadle Hyde's
education was obtained from the ward schools of New York. He left them at 14 and at 16 entered a jeweler's school at Newark, New Jersey. He learned the business, was successful in it until the Civil War in 1861 and enlisted on Apr. 19 1861 in Co. "G", 2nd New Jersey Infantry Volunteers. Came home from battle in Sept. of 1862, and sent to the hospital at his old home in Newark, unconscious with fever. The following Christmas he was discharged and sent home to get well. Later in 1864, moved to Chicago.
I have further information on him and his son's, but am interested in Edwin. I know that he was a volunteer fireman as every man had to be a fireman or a soldier for 5 years back then.
